Are your clients being impacted by misinformation?
The internet is filled with bad info. Here's what you can do about it.
Hey Fertile Guides!
I’ve recently been struck by how vulnerable our clients are to misinformation. While one great benefit of the internet is having so many perspectives and facts available at our fingertips, there is an equally ugly truth that a portion of what is published in the virtual world is not factual and, sometimes, downright dangerous.
Often, our clients are searching for anything and everything that might possibly help them get pregnant faster. While most of what they are reading is likely innocent enough, there is still a very real risk that our clients are misled by something someone posted that simply isn’t true or isn’t applicable to their unique situations.
One of the key roles you play when working with clients is helping to demystify the confusion, overwhelm, irrational fears, and erroneous beliefs while also educating them to identify what is and is not reliable.
Here’s the truth: clients are going to research in their spare time - it’s unavoidable. What we can do is provide our clients with a short list of reliable resources that they can go to for answers to their midnight questions.
Here’s Your Homework
Assemble a list of websites, Youtube channels, podcasts, Instagram accounts, and books that you consider quality information. Share this with your clients so they can learn from reliable sources, as opposed to Dr. Google or this week’s resident expert on Instagram.
